“You’re stuck in three time periods: who you were, who you are now, and who you want to be. For any destination, you need all three.”
Some people don’t want to be saved. It seems all they want is to continue how they are — even if their habits or lack of good ones steers them to impending doom — and that’s putting it mildly. I think what my friends and I do is to at least try to make a conscious effort to help out each other. Often enough, one person takes our words of advice with offense. Like somehow us saying you to to quit when you’re ahead wasn’t the obvious choice a few years ago. It baffles me, but I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised. You can’t expect someone to address their problems — even if there is some consensus.
So what do you do? Truthfully, I think I’ve cared too much the past several years. My trust has been broken a couple times and I’m occasionally a pon in their ways. Friends look out for one another, but this person has a lack of respect and disregard for his own safety. I mean, I fucking tried to help and if you’re not going to change before it’s too late — so be it. Be you my G.
I think we all stopped caring starting this year — and that’s just a lot of weight off my shoulders. What perfect timing.
With love, Danny.
